UNITY SAND
BLENDING
(Groom) and (Bride), you have just sealed your
relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and this covenant
is a relationship pledge between two people who agree that they will
commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. The most
beautiful example of this partnership is the marriage relationship.
You have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with
each other. Today, this relationship is symbolized through the
pouring of these two containers of sand. One represents you
(Groom), all that you were, all that you are, and all that you
will ever be. The other, representing you (Bride), and all
that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. As
these two containers of sand are poured into the third container,
the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be
joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be
separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will
your marriage be.

(Groom) and (Bride) today you are making a life-long
commitment to share the rest of your lives with each other. Your
relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these individual
containers of sand; one, represents you, (Groom) all that you
were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other
represents you, (Bride) all that you were, all that you are,
and all that you will ever be. You each hold your separate
containers of sand that represent your lives to this moment;
individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your
lives also join together as one family. At this time, I would like
to invite the parents of (Groom) and (Bride) to come
forward. These four containers of sand represent the bride and groom
and each family. You may now blend the sands together symbolizing
the uniting of the two families into one. Just as the grains of sand
can never be separated and poured again into their individual
containers, so will your marriage and your families be.

We are all members of one family, God’s family. Today as (Groom)
and (Bride) have sealed their commitment to each other with
the exchange of rings they too make a commitment to their children.
We recognize the significant role that (Child), (Child)
, (Child) and (Child) play in this marriage celebrated
today. They will now join (Groom) and (Bride) in
this commitment to each other by contributing a part of each
individual person into one blended family. Today, this relationship
is symbolized through the pouring of these (# of) individual
containers of sand, each representing a member of the family in all
that they were, all that that are, and all that they will ever be.
As each individual’s sand is poured into the family’s one united
common container, the individual containers of sand will no longer
exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as the grains of
sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual
containers, so will become the bond with your family.

These are just one representation of the Unity Sand Blending
ceremony. The ceremony can
be edited or modified to accommodate your special event.
